Lesson Planning Card & Project Outline Map

Visualising Understanding
Evaluation and Decision-making

(Co-developed with Eddy Hui & Anita Ma Yuen Iu in Rhenish Church Pang Hok Ko Memorial College)

WHAT is it?

It includes a set of elements that a comprehensive subject or project curriculum shall include. It helps to provide a structured framework for educators to organize and outline their teaching plans.

WHY use it?

Sometimes it may be challenging for teachers to establish an innovative project in a traditional step-by-step manner. The advantages of using lesson planning cards include providing a structured framework that simplifies the process of organizing project details, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, and fostering creativity through randomly combining different components.

HOW to do it?

Get teachers into groups by subject. Explain the goal of the day is to create an innovative student project outline with the essential lesson components.

  1. Write down the subject (or cross-subjects) in the Project Outline Map. Discuss within the group to determine the “Project Topic” and “Target Users” and fill in the section.
  2. Randomly draw (or pick) three from the “Learning Outcomes”, “SDGs” and “Future Skills” cards, and try to formulate a possible student project, discuss and come up with the project content with the specific components drawn (If teachers find it hard to relate to SDGs, SOINNO dices can be introduced and used with this tool).
  3. Set for the suitable deliverable(s) based on the project framework.
  4. List whether the project would bring potential social impacts or require external collaborators.
